KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members were engaged in a scuffle in front of Umno headquarters at Putra World Trade Centre as the party celebrated its 72nd anniversary in the wake of its defeats at the general election on Wednesday.
It started after Muhammad Takiuddin Halim, a committee member of Seputeh division had supported a call by the Federal Territories youth chief for the Umno leadership to take responsibility for losing the general election.
Some 30 members of the youth wing then went after Takiuddin all the way into the PWTC compound.
Auxillary policemen were forced to step in and the situation only became calm after Takiuddin was ushered out from the area.
Several Umno divisional leaders have come out to demand the resignation of party president and Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Razak, after the party lost control of the federal government and seven states.
