PETALING JAYA: Outgoing prime minister Najib Razak tonight congratulated Dr Mahathir Mohamad after he was sworn in as the country’s 7th prime minister.
In his Twitter message, Najib also said he would help ensure a smooth transfer of power to the former PM.
Mahathir was sworn in before the King just before 10pm today.
In yesterday’s general election Pakatan Harapan, comprising PKR, DAP, PPBM and Amanah, won 113 seats in the 222-member Dewan Rakyat, with its allies winning 12 more.
Barisan Nasional won 79 seats and PAS 18.
