
“I joined a Wanita Umno cooking programme as well, and if Barisan Nasional or PAS invite me, I’ll come too.
“I’ve been cooking for 27 years. What’s wrong with coming to a programme like this when it’s suitable for the season?” he said at the Jasnita D’Maula Klasik restaurant where he was holding his “Mari Memasak Bersama Chef Wan” programme.
Also present were Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong and Chew Peck Soo, who is running for the Yong Peng state seat.
Chef Wan said he would not join any party as he considers himself politically neutral.
“If it’s the truth, I will say so. If it’s wrong, why would I defend it? It’s like Rafidah Aziz said: I won’t be silent if someone tries to rob my house.”
He added that he was not concerned about losing money following his decision to appear at an opposition programme.
“If after this, I have to fry banana fritters, that’s okay. I don’t care,” he said.
