The message circulating on WhatsApp had claimed that Prabakaran would be asked to step down if he wins Batu to pave the way for Tian Chua to stand in a by-election.
When asked if he would lodge a police report over the rumour, Tian Chua said he was not going to waste time over the allegation.
Meanwhile, Prabakaran’s adviser, M Parameswaran, also dismissed the claim made in the WhatsApp message and said they might take legal action.
On May 28, Tian Chua was disqualified by the Election Commission’s (EC) returning officer Anwar Mohd Zain from seeking re-election on the grounds that he was fined RM2,000 for assaulting a policeman in 2007.
The Federal Constitution disqualifies anyone from standing as an election candidate for five years after being sentenced to more than a year’s jail, or a fine of more than RM2,000.
Tian Chua failed to challenge his disqualification in the High Court last week. He subsequently said PKR would endorse 22-year-old Prabakaran.
If he wins, Prabakaran will be the youngest MP in Malaysia’s history.
