The Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court allowed his claim against two police officers, the inspector-general of police (IGP) and the government for damaging the awning of his carpark on Nov 2, 2016.
His lawyer V Satchitanandan said they had initially sued the police for RM19,000, but that the court had awarded them RM5,000 and ordered costs of RM5,000.
Sanjeevan said he had filed the suit to “teach the police a lesson”.
“They did not apologise to me until today for damaging the awning.
“It is not about the money. I just want them to know what they did was wrong,” he said.
He had lodged the report against the police for damaging the awning while seizing his motorcycles for investigation under anti-money laundering laws.
However, he said the police had since returned the motorcycles.
Sanjeevan was previously charged with blackmailing, cheating using fake degrees, and hiring foreign workers. He also faced a charge of insulting the IGP
He was later acquitted of cheating and insulting the IGP.
