
Pua was returned twice with huge majorities in Petaling Jaya Utara, which has now been renamed Damansara and expanded to more than 150,000 voters.
Ho has never contested an election.
But he is not worried about going head-to-head with Pua. “He might be a two-term MP, but when DAP dropped him here (in 2008) he was new to the area. I was born and raised here. I went to school here, all my friends are here, this is my home,” he said.
He was also unfazed by the size of the constituency. “There could be 60,000 people or 150,000 people. The important thing is what you can do for those people and how well you can serve them.”
However, that he believed it was about time that Malaysia increased the number of parliamentary seats from the current 222.
“We’ve done it numerous times since we gained our independence. It’s only natural that as the population grows, more parliamentary seats are introduced.”
