KUALA LUMPUR:
Tian Chua confirmed today that he would remain in PKR, where he is a vice-president, but appeared to indicate he may not be chosen for re-election to the Batu constituency which he has served since 2008.

In 2008 he defeated Barisan Nasional’s Lim Si Pin by a 9,455 majority and was re-elected in 2013 with a 13,284 majority.

He called a press conference this evening, in the wake of speculation that he would be leaving in a dispute about selection of election candidates.

He said he had no problem if not nominated and would help the chosen PKR candidate.

“I didn’t say I was quitting the party, I am confident with my struggle and have been with the party for more than 20 years, since I was a young man, till now. I am committed to the party, I have faith that the PKR leadership will choose the Batu candidate wisely. I am a reformist.

“I have no problems if not selected as a candidate, I will still play a role in the party,” he said.
