Its president, M Kayveas, said this after chairing the supreme council meeting at the party headquarters today.
“Our supreme council members have unanimously decided to remain with BN.
“However, our decision will be reconsidered after we meet Prime Minister Najib Razak,” he told reporters after chairing a two-hour meeting at myPPP’s headquarters.
The decision comes after Kayveas rejected BN secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s offer to contest in Segambut, and not Cameron Highlands.
Kayveas, who is a former senator and Taiping MP, said myPPP would stand a better chance to win Cameron Highlands for BN because the party had worked there for many years.
“It is dangerous to ‘replace’ us with another candidate. They may lose the seat,” he said.
The incumbent Cameron Highlands MP is G Palanivel, who remains an independent MP.
Yesterday, during the launch of the myPPP manifesto, Kayveas said Tengku Adnan had offered the Segambut parliamentary seat for him to stand in the election.
He refused to accept Tengku Adnan’s offer and told the federal territories minister that he should be the one contesting in Segambut.
Kayveas said although he considered Tengku Adnan a “close friend”, he was running out of patience.
“If you do not want us (in BN), tell us nicely. Do not give us seats to lose and then say you have given us seats but we cannot win.”
Kayveas also accused Tengku Adnan of being unfair in seat negotiations.
“We would have left in 2008 if it was not for Tengku Adnan’s persuasion. We stayed back because of him, thank you very much.”
When asked if myPPP would “sabotage” the BN candidate selected for Cameron Highlands, Kayveas said he would not do that.
“We do not spend our time doing things that are unnecessary.
“If there is sabotage, it will come from the voters who have high hopes for us to contest there,” he said.
Kayveas’s supporters gathered outside the party’s headquarters today and held placards with messages supporting him.
They urged the top BN leadership to let Kayveas contest in Cameron Highlands, where he had been active for the last four years.
MIC Youth chief Sivaarraj Chandran is expected to stand in Cameron Highlands for BN.
