He said in reality, a reverse Malay tsunami was likely, where he said the Malay electorate previously with the opposition would now swing to Umno and Barisan Nasional.
Shabudin said this was based on the feedback and grassroots support he has gotten from the Malay electorate around the country, especially the ones in Tasek Gelugor.
“There is no such thing. We do not see this tsunami. It is just the opposition’s attempt to make up the perception that the Malays will change this time.
“I am not saying there are no opposition supporters, but how can they say a tsunami is coming? It’s nonsense. Maybe a reverse tsunami might take place,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a ceramah with BN leaders at Pusat Komersil Tasik Gelugor on Thursday night.
Shabudin said he is confident a reverse tsunami is likely after meeting kampung folk and over 1,000 school teachers in Tasek Gelugor.
He said the teachers were all supportive of the BN’s plans for the future.
“Even school leavers above 21 are fully supportive of us, coming along with us to a programme in Tasik Banding (a tourist spot in the Perak-Kelantan border). They were all very eager to join us on the trip.
“After the trip, they spread the good word about BN,” he said.
Shabudin said he is confident of BN’s chances with all component parties more united than ever.
