Some Klang voters mysteriously registered in Perak, claims MP

Klang MP Charles Santiago says they will be forced to vote in Perak as the electoral roll has been gazetted.

PETALING JAYA:
Several voters in the Klang parliamentary constituency have had their names registered in Perak without their knowledge, Klang MP Charles Santiago charged today.

Santiago told FMT that six people had come to his office complaining after they found out that their names had been mysteriously shifted to Perak.

“And quite a number of them have had their names shifted to Kamunting. I don’t know what’s special about Kamunting,” he said.

He said there was little option left as the electoral roll had already been gazetted, which meant they would have to go to Perak to vote on May 9.

“The way it goes is that once it is gazetted then it becomes legal. We wrote to the Election Commission (EC) last week to see what we can do about this.”

Santiago said he would be posting the matter on his Facebook page today and called on other Klang voters to check their voting status and to let him know if there were any discrepancies.

He claimed there was also a 23-year-old girl who had apparently been registered to vote in Klang. “The funny thing is that she never registered to vote.”
