PH leaders to end Selangor seat stalemate tomorrow

Presidential Council members to help resolve failure to agree on six Selangor state seats, decision expected to be announced on Friday.

PETALING JAYA:
A stalemate over state assembly seats in Selangor is to be settled at the top, with the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council forced to step in to end the dispute.

Negotiations began more than two months ago over the right to contest in Dusun Tua, Sri Serdang, Lembah Jaya, Sungai Burong, Sungai Panjang and Kota Damansara.

Most of the seats were previously held by PAS.

According to an insider, among the suggested solutions are that Amanah contest in Sri Serdang, PKR in Kota Damansara, either PPBM or DAP in Dusun Tua, with Sungai Burong and Sungai Panjang open to any of the PH parties.

“Whoever does not get enough seats could either take Sungai Burong or Sungai Panjang,” the insider said.

A decision is expected at the PH Presidential Council meeting tomorrow of PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Selangor state assembly, at the time of dissolution, comprised PKR with 13 seats, PAS 13, DAP 14, Amanah 2, Barisan Nasional 12 and two seats held by independents.

Pakatan Harapan said today that the full candidate list for all parliamentary and state constituencies would be announced by April 25, three days before nomination day.
