Salleh thinks Pakatan will use PKR’s logo

But Pakatan's hopes will stall because Mahathir and PPBM can't deliver Malay tsunami, he says.

PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan’s hopes of making electoral progress are being stalled by the failure of Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his party in delivering a “Malay tsunami”, says the Barisan Nasional’s Salleh Said Keruak.

In his latest blog post, Salleh also said he expected Pakatan Harapan to use the PKR’s party symbol as the coalition’s common logo for the general election.

“DAP said it is not using its logo in GE14 while Amanah’s logo might put off the Chinese voters due to its Islamic image. So that leaves only PKR’s logo,” he said. His comments come in the wake of Dr Mahathir’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia being temporarily deregistered by the Registrar of Societies today.

“Pakatan’s use of PKR’s logo as its common logo is their strategy to fool the Malays into believing that this now makes Pakatan more Malay,” Salleh said.

Pakatan Harapan will announce the common logo at a ceremah in Johor tomorrow. Speculation is rife that it will be PKR’s symbol

Salleh made reference to comments by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli today that Dr Mahathir had failed to trigger a “Malay tsunami” for the opposition pact as expected.

“That was supposed to be the role of Mahathir and PPBM, and which Rafizi has admitted now, had failed to happen.

“Without this ‘Malay Tsunami’, Pakatan Harapan might do even worse than in the 2013 general election let alone win the 120 or so parliament seats they are aiming for,” Salleh said.

He added that this was because PH leaders and a number of political analysts have said that the “Chinese tsunami” that started in 2008 had already peaked in 2013.

“That means PH has more or less maximised its Chinese support base and if they want to go higher than the 80 or so parliament seats that PH had expected to win without the help of PAS, then it has to be against the backdrop of a ‘Malay Tsunami’.”
