In a statement after a meeting at Parliament yesterday, the committee said it would bring up the matter with the domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism ministry for enforcement of the rule.
The meeting was co-chaired by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri and Foreign Minister Anifah Aman.
Also present was Attorney-General Mohamad Apandi Ali, who is also chairman of the Technical Committee on the Implementation of the Devolution of Authority between the federal government and the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak.
Other issues discussed during the meeting were the special grants to Sabah and Sarawak and the restoration of Sabah’s authority on electricity and gas distribution.
The committee said the outcome of the discussion would be presented to the cabinet for policy decision.
Meanwhile, Nancy said in a statement that the implementation of the devolution of authority between the federal government and state government of Sarawak had already begun, with 13 administrative matters earlier agreed on having been implemented.
Among them were the granting of authority by the public prosecutor under the Criminal Procedure Code to state legal officers to prosecute a person for offences under the state ordinance at the lower court level, right up to the appeal level, she said.
She said 100 new posts were also created to help the Sarawak Immigration Department improve its enforcement. Another matter in the final stages of discussion involves the Welfare Department.
