Kelantan police shoot dead 2 suspected criminals

They are believed to have been involved in a robbery and four-wheel drive theft syndicate.

MACHANG: Two suspected criminals were killed in a shoot-out with police at a house in Kampung Joh here yesterday.

Kelantan deputy police chief Din Ahmad said the men, aged 31 and 37, were believed to be involved in a robbery and four-wheel drive (4WD) theft syndicate in the state.

“Following a public tip-off, police raided the house at around 3pm and a shoot-out which lasted about five minutes occurred between the suspects and the police.

“The suspects were found dead in the living room and in a room at the back of the house.

“Two guns, of which one was fake, and a machete were also recovered from the house,” he told reporters at the scene.

Din said the modus operandi of the duo was to disguise themselves as policemen while committing the robberies.

“With this success, police have solved 12 4WD robbery cases in the state,” he said, adding that the bodies had been sent to Machang Hospital for post-mortem.
