Lim was referring to the criticism hurled against him by BN ministers for dancing along to a song mocking the goods and services tax (GST) at an event attended by children at a low-cost block of flats over the weekend.
The children were then attending the launch of a Penang government-sponsored free tuition class.
Lim said the reaction from BN contrasts with their response to Federal Territory Minister and Putrajaya MP Tengku Adnan Mansor going to a primary school in Putrajaya last year.
Lim said, unlike Tengku Adnan, he did not visit a school but children at a low-cost flat over the weekend.
“If it was wrong, then how was it okay for Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Mansor to go into a primary school in Putrajaya last year and get schoolchildren to take a break from their lessons to sing Umno party songs and wave Umno party flags?
“Why was there no investigation carried out by the police on Tengku Adnan for this more serious and objectionable offence?”
He was referring to police reports lodged against him for allegedly trying to exploit children for his political interests.
Lim said the education ministry had then justified the disruption of classes for the schoolchildren at the Putrajaya primary school by Tengku Adnan.
“I had addressed the issue in the Dewan Rakyat.
“The reply from the ministry then was that the programme in the Putrajaya primary school was not political in nature, and was on the theme of the nation’s independence,” Lim said.
“The action against me on the anti-GST song, as well as the proposal for a RM78 billion undersea tunnel project from Bagan Datuk to Sumatera, proves that BN is filled with double-standards and bereft of both principles and honour.”
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had spoken on the proposal for a tunnel to link his Bagan Datuk parliamentary constituency in Perak with the Indonesian island across the Melaka Strait by the private sector.
“BN’s announcement is surprising considering they have been trying to sabotage a RM3.6 billion undersea tunnel in Penang to reduce traffic congestion between the island and the mainland.
“So intent is BN on sabotaging this tunnel project that they have launched a vicious political witch hunt, alleging corruption amounting to millions of ringgit paid to leaders of the Penang state government,” the DAP secretary-general said.
