It was the last letter she ever received from her father, who was on board the ill-fated flight MH370 on March 8, 2014.
“He told me to grow up and be a responsible person for my mum and brother. He said he was sorry for not always being around.
“He also reminded me to always believe in God no matter what,” she told FMT.

This message is one that she holds close to her heart, even as she clings to the hope that he will return one day.
“Every time I go through hardship, I will read the letter over and over again,” she added.
Maira said she always understood that her father could not be around all the time due to the nature of his job, which often saw him working on long-haul flights.
But she said he would always bring back some snacks or perfume whenever he returned from a long trip abroad.
“My father was very strict but yet very protective. From time to time, we did get pampered.
“One thing that we would always do together during his days off was go food hunting. That’s what he likes to do, he loves food and he loves to cook.
“He would be the one to Google and suggest which place to go for food hunting.”

Maira, 21, added that her father was also a good cook.
“He likes noodles, so sometimes he would cook us ‘mee goreng mamak’. Even though it didn’t taste the same, it was still good.”
Today is the fourth anniversary of the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
The Boeing 777 vanished en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur with 239 people on board. Its disappearance has become one of history’s greatest aviation mysteries.
Andrew would have celebrated his 53rd birthday on Feb 21. Speaking to FMT, Maira recalled the last time she celebrated the occasion with her father in 2014.
It was just three weeks before the flight, and she remembers how she treated her father to a birthday cake and a present using her first ever salary.
“I had just started working part-time while waiting for my SPM results. At that time, power banks for smartphones were the in-thing, so I got him one.
“When he opened the present and read what I wrote on the birthday card, he had a look on his face that I had never seen before.
“I remember that very well,” said Maira, who became famous among Liverpool fans around the world when the English Premier League club paid tribute to Andrew after she shared messages on Twitter about his love for the club.
