SHAH ALAM:
The police investigation into the Klang City International Marathon 2017, which was allegedly organised without a permit from the Sports Commissioner, has been classified as “No Further Action” (NFA).

Southern Klang District Police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said in a statement yesterday that the case was declared NFA on the instructions of the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

“The investigation papers on the case were placed under NFA on Feb 12 on the instruction of the AGC, on the grounds that Section 36(1) of the Sports Development Act 1997 is not a provision for a chargeable offence.

“As such, no follow-up action will be taken against the organiser of the event that had been investigated under the act,” he said.

During the event on Dec 10 last year, three participants were injured, one of them badly, after being hit by a car.

Police said then that Earth Runners International Group Sdn Bhd had not obtained a permit from the Sports Commissioner to organise the event.
