PETALING JAYA: Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali is being treated for an injury incurred recently while undertaking domestic activities at home, his strategic communications director Yin Shao Loong said today.
He said the PKR deputy president was diagnosed with an annular tear of his spinal disc.
“He was so excited with the arrival of his first grandchild earlier last week that he cleaned and cleared his house by himself, which included lifting very heavy furniture,” Yin said.
“Thus the injury. Such are the joys and tribulations of being a datuk (grandfather),” he added in a statement.
Yin said Azmin was currently undergoing physiotherapy and was impatient to be back “at 100%” for the people of Selangor.
Earlier this month, Azmin had tweeted his joy at welcoming his first grandchild, who was born on Feb 14 to his daughter, Farah Shazliyana, and her husband, Muhammad Syaqib Zainudin.
