PETALING JAYA: Petrol prices have gone down substantially for the second consecutive week with RON95 and RON97 cheaper by 6 sen and 7 sen, respectively.
The new price for petrol effective midnight is RM2.17 per litre for RON95 and RM2.43 per litre for RON97. Last week, the price had dropped by 10 sen and 11 sen, respectively.
Meanwhile, the price of diesel too dropped by 6 sen, with the price going down to RM2.13. The diesel price had fallen by 12 sen last week.
The new prices will be in effect from Feb 22 to 28.
This was announced on the domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism ministry’s Twitter account and website on Wednesday evening.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism came into effect on March 29 last year.
Prices of petrol and diesel were placed on a managed monthly float system since Dec 1, 2014, following the removal of fuel subsidies.
