ISLAMABAD: Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin, chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, has received Pakistan’s highest military honour.

According to a report by Samaa TV, Kamarulzaman was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) by Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain.

This was in recognition of his service and contributions to the strengthening of the relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia, in particular, the relationship between the two countries’ navies.

The ceremony in which Kamarulzaman was honoured took place in Aiwan-e-Sadr, the Pakistani president’s official residence.

The same report said that during his time in Pakistan, Kamarulzaman had discussed professional matters and bilateral naval cooperation with Pakistan’s Naval Chief, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

He had also gone to the Shuhada Monument at Pakistan’s naval headquarters, where he laid a wreath.

President Hussain was quick to highlight the relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia and emphasised that the two countries should regularly exchange delegations to maintain the good relationship that the countries have.

“Our armed forces have expertise in counter-terrorism and they can also provide training to brotherly countries,” Hussain was quoted as saying by The Nation.

Kamarulzaman, who had earlier expressed his appreciation of the Pakistan Navy’s contribution to regional peace and stability, is scheduled to visit the Pakistan Navy Field Commands in Lahore and Karachi.
