PETALING JAYA: Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang today compared voter support for DAP with that of MCA through the Chinese New Year videos released by both parties, featuring DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and MCA president Liow Tiong Lai respectively.

As at 8am today, he said, Guan Eng’s video which had been up for 60 hours had gained 399,000 views, 21,000 reactions – including 19,000 “likes” and 1,500 “loves” – and 9,624 shares.

Liow’s video, on the other hand, had been up for 93 hours. However, it gained only 33,000 views, 1,100 reactions including 966 “likes” and 57 “loves”, and 493 shares, he said.

“These statistics speak for themselves.”

Kit Siang also reiterated his criticism of MCA for claiming that DAP wanted to “destroy” the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party.

Calling it a desperate but pitiable move to beg the Chinese community for support in the 14th general election (GE14), the DAP parliamentary leader said: “Only MCA can destroy MCA.”

Kit Siang was referring to a recent front-page report in the Sin Chew Daily headlined “Wee Ka Siong: Beg Chinese community not to let MCA be destroyed”.

“How pitiable and pathetic for MCA leaders to send an SOS appeal to the Chinese community in the face of a fictitious DAP plot to destroy MCA,” he said yesterday.
