PETALING JAYA:
Khalid Ibrahim’s aide has rubbished talk that the former menteri besar will stand as a PAS candidate in the coming election, saying his decision on the matter is final.

“When he says he is not interested in contesting, he means it,” Faekah Husin told The Star daily.

This followed reports that Khalid Ibrahim would campaign for the Islamist party in Shah Alam, a parliamentary seat which is currently held by Amanah communications chief Khalid Samad.

Khalid Samad won the seat for PAS with comfortable majorities in 2008 and 2013. Following the divisive PAS muktamar of 2015, however, he joined PAS splinter party Amanah.

Khalid Ibrahim, who is also Bandar Tun Razak MP, became an independent assemblyman in the Selangor state assembly following his fallout with PKR in 2014.

He was seen to be cozying up to PAS after the “Kajang Move” which saw Mohamed Azmin Ali becoming the menteri besar after PKR planned to replace the former with its president, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Speculation is also rife that Azmin himself may move from Gombak to Shah Alam in the 14th general election.

Shah Alam likely to see battle of 2 Khalids, or 2 MBs
