Mahathir was chosen as the prime ministerial candidate for Pakatan Harapan (PH) during its convention on Jan 7.
Speaking at the Pesta Ponggal Vanniar event here today, Mahathir asked Indians to support PH in order for the opposition coalition to make good on its pledge.
“Should I become prime minister again I will take good care of the people in this country and pay a lot of attention to the needs of the Indian community.
“That is my pledge.

“You need to support us so that this pledge can become a reality.
“Only if we win the election can we fulfil this pledge,” he said.
Looking at the type of government that PH intends to set up, he said the coalition will be able to serve the Indian community better.
Mahathir also said Malays were set to turn against the government.
“I hope the Chinese and Indians will also help this faction that intends to defeat BN.
“The government is attempting to divide the people using race before the election,” he said, hoping there will be no trouble in case PH is able to form the next federal government.
