DBKL Urban Wellbeing and Community Development Department director Wan Mohammad Ghazali Nor said the first phase of the project would involve 48 PA and PPR flats.
“All the CCTV cameras are rented from selected contractors who would also carry out the monitoring and maintenance work,” he told Bernama when contacted here.
He said the CCTV system would make it easier for the DBKL to monitor the situation at the PA and PPR flats from time to time.
“City Hall will not hesitate to evict the occupants who violate the rules and regulations in the housing areas,” he said.
Wan Mohammad Ghazali said DBKL would also adopt the e-logger system which would see the installation of a special chip on elevators to monitor it in real-time and send an immediate notification to the DBKL control room in case of technical problems without waiting for complaints to be filed by residents.
It is also hoped that the efforts taken by DBKL would reduce, if not overcome, incidents of burglary, motorcycle and car thefts and drug abuse commonly reported in PA and PPR areas, he added.
