
Anuar Hassan, 48, his wife Siti Norlaila Abu Bakar, 46, personal assistant Muhammad Abdul Alim Salleh, 28, and the pilot of the Cirrus 9M-ZWR aircraft, Wan Mohd Faizul Riza, 35, also suffered minor injuries due to the 1pm incident.
According to Rompin police chief DSP Azli Mohd Noor the pilot lost control of the aircraft due to a crosswind gusting and hit the fence before stopping at a grassy embankment at the side of the runway.
“Initial investigation revealed that the Cirrus 9M-ZWR aircraft, which was owned by Anuar, had departed from the Senai Airport, in Johor, and was headed to the island where he was to attend a business meeting,” Azli told Bernama.
He added that the pilot, Wan Mohd Faizul had been flying the plane for Anuar over the past eight months, and had obtained a pilot’s licence in 2010.
