The Sessions Court here passed the sentence against the 35-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity.
On the attempted rape charge, the man was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and three strokes of the cane, while for forcing the girl to perform oral sex on him, he was given another 10 years jail plus 10 strokes of the cane.
He had been charged with committing the two offences at a house along Jalan Kobusak, Penampang on two consecutive days – March 19 and March 20, 2015.
The court ordered the man to serve the jail sentences concurrently.
The judge allowed the man’s application for a stay of execution pending an appeal to the High Court.
He was ordered to post a bail of RM10,000 with one local surety and to report to the police station twice a month.
