PETALING JAYA: Controversial cartoonists Fahmi Reza and Zunar got rare support from Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz, who urged politicians to stop being sensitive when they are mocked in cartoons.

“If you are very sensitive, then you got no business in politics. Remember that you are a public figure,” The Sun quoted him as saying after launching the “Cartoon and Us” exhibition at the National Museum yesterday.

“If you choose not to be criticised then stay at home. If you want to be involved in politics you must know what is coming.”

Fahmi Reza and Zunar have previously landed in hot water due to their political satire works, including uncomplimentary depiction of Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Both have pending court cases in relation to their works.

The Sun reported Nazri as saying that the duo should continue expressing their thoughts and should not be intimidated by attempts to suppress their works criticising public figures.

But Nazri said art enthusiasts should not go overboard when expressing their thoughts.

“You know how poisonous or venomous when I say something. Don’t be personal,” he was quoted as saying.
