KUALA LUMPUR:
“I just want my daughter to know that I’m looking for her and need the help of Malaysians to locate my girl,” says Argentinian Elizabeth Avalos, who was a picture of worry, anxiety and frustration.

The 27-year-old receptionist’s predicament is understandable.

According to Avalos, her daughter, Alum Langone-Avalos, seven, was allegedly abducted last June in Argentina by her former partner, Jorge Gabriel Langone, who is also the abducted girl’s father.

Alum is believed to be with her father and the man’s female companion.

They were last seen in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan, heading to Kulai, Johor.

It was reported that Alum’s father had allegedly abducted her from school and left Argentina illegally before entering Malaysia illegally last year.

At a press conference in the Argentinian embassy here today, Avalos hoped to put an end to her seven-month misery at being torn apart from her only child.

“Through public feedback, we found that the three of them are pretending to be one happy family.

“A man from Kuala Pilah called the embassy on Dec 17 last year, claiming that he met the couple with a very tired-looking girl… that was the latest information we have,” said a sobbing Avalos, who has been separated from her partner for some time.

She claimed to have been granted full custody of the child following the couple’s separation.

“Alum has no one here (Malaysia). Her father speaks many languages such as French, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.

“He is a musician and we received information that he performed at a bar in Mersing, Johor,” she said.

Meanwhile, Argentinian Ambassador to Malaysia Manuel Balaguer Salas said the Malaysian authorities had been extremely cooperative with the embassy and hoped to locate Alum soon.

“While the Malaysian authorities do not have any information on the trio’s entry into the country, we know they are here because we saw them on social media.

“It’s even easier to detain them because they are illegal immigrants. We don’t need much more than that. The Argentinian government has also cancelled their passports,” he said.

Alum has been described as 1.25 metres tall, with dark brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts could contact the embassy at 012-2012464 or 03-21441451.
