Anina, who now heads the NGO Empirical Malaysia, said people should instead vote for the party and candidate that can protect the interests of the Malays and other Bumiputeras.
Speaking at a press conference here today, she said people should not vote because of “an obsession for someone who has built tall buildings or built Putrajaya”, in apparent reference to PPBM chairman Mahathir, who was prime minister for 22 years till 2003.
Anina became the focus of public attention in August 2015 while still with the Langkawi Umno division, after a video clip of her criticising prime minister and Umno president Najib Razak for “peeing” on Umno members, went viral on social media.
She was sacked from Umno the next month, after she filed a suit against Najib, accusing him of defrauding Umno members for his receipt of RM2.6 billion in March 2013 and his subsequent use of it without Umno’s knowledge.
She later helped form PPBM in September 2016, only to quit the party a year later.
Anina today said Malays needed to be united but were now split between five parties – Umno, PPBM, Amanah, PAS dan PKR.
“From being one great race, we have become divided into small factions. This is dangerous for our people,” she said.
She added that she would not run in GE14 but would focus on promoting the agenda of Empirical Malaysia, formed in October last year, to champion policies to help the Malays and other Bumiputeras , something PPBM had failed to achieve.
