KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak today confirmed that the forensic audit and police investigation into land worth RM200 million belonging to the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) at Jalan Semarak here would proceed even though the agency has reclaimed ownership of it.

“Alhamdulillah, Felda’s land at Jalan Semarak has been returned without any cost. Nevertheless, I wish to state that the forensic audit and police investigation will continue,” he said in a post on his Twitter account.

Yesterday, Felda chairman Shahrir Samad confirmed that the agency had reclaimed ownership of the land at Jalan Semarak from Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB) at no cost.

Ownership recovery of all 16 plots was obtained through a memorandum of understanding signed between Felda and SPSB at Felda’s headquarters.

On Dec 21, it was reported that Felda was at risk of losing the rights to strategic land along Jalan Semarak, estimated to be worth RM200 million, as a result of four allegedly dubious sale and purchase transactions in December 2015 and November 2016.

The land transfer was believed to have occurred when Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd appointed a local company as the main developer on June 3, 2014 and gave full power of attorney to develop it.
