Calling the story “fictitious”, he said he had never issued any warning to Amanah during a press conference yesterday and demanded that BH retract and apologise for the report.
“No warning was issued. How can they manufacture such a story? It is clear that BH is lying. That is why I do not want to answer to government-controlled media.
“This is completely out of line. I have never issued warnings to any party, let alone my own party,” Lim said at a press conference in Komtar.
Challenging the reporter to sue him, Lim said he was a liar and a coward for not attending today’s press conference.
“You can ask the other reporters if I have given any warning to anyone. They will vouch for me,” he said, following which several reporters confirmed his earlier statement.
Lim said during his press conference yesterday, he had acknowledged that there were some PH component parties who had differing views on the seat allocation for the 14th general election (GE14).
“I merely said that we will continue to hear them out, and continue to explain to them that this is what we need to do to win GE14,” he said.
In the BH Online report, copies of which were distributed to reporters today, Lim was quoted as saying he had “warned” Amanah’s leadership to stop making a big issue out of the seat allocation for the coming polls.
FMT has learnt that the story has been retracted. BH has been contacted for comment.
