BN’s strategic communications (BNSC) deputy director Eric See-To said DAP was retaining its position as the “true power” behind PH, adding that the party would contest between 20 or 30 more seats in the Borneo states.
“PPBM will not contest a single seat there as they do not even have branches in Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
At its convention on Sunday, PH announced its allocation of parliamentary seats in Peninsular Malaysia for the next general election.
PPBM is allocated the highest number with 52 seats, followed by PKR (51), DAP (35) and Amanah (27).
But See-To said PH should be more honest by releasing the allocations for the entire country, and not give a perception that PPBM was in control when DAP is the “true power” in the coalition.
In the last general election, DAP contested 51 parliamentary seats, 15 of which were in Sabah and Sarawak.
See-To said most of the seats PPBM would contest at the next polls were Umno and PAS strongholds.
“To make it worse, there are likely to be many three-corner fights in these seats, thus PPBM’s chances are slim to none in these seats,” he said.
He said on the other hand, DAP stood a better chance at winning as it would contest mostly in Chinese-majority areas.
“Thus DAP will surely retain its dominant position in Harapan,” he said.
