Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie extended the remand until Thursday (Jan 11) after hearing arguments from both sides in the proceeding.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) was represented by Khairudin Kilau while Martin Tommy and Cedric Choo acted for Anthony.
Anthony had been taken to the Kota Kinabalu magistrate’s court for the proceeding at about 9am as his first remand last Saturday, for three days, expired today.
He was detained on Friday after presenting himself at the MACC office to have his statement recorded over the land deal, which he was said to have helped facilitate.
Lawyer Michael Persius Ubu, who is also sought by the MACC for questioning over the case, is believed to be overseas.
Anthony was reportedly detained on June 5 last year after presenting himself at the MACC office to have his statement recorded over alleged corruption linked to the RM155 million purchase of two parcels of land in the Sabah central district of Tongod by Risda in 2014.
He was investigated by the police following a police report lodged by Risda in 2016, but he was cleared of any wrongdoing then.
Anthony was also detained and remanded for five days in October last year by the anti-graft agency for another corruption probe involving RM1.5 billion in government funds under the rural and regional development ministry.
Anthony was said to be among several businessmen and contractors in Sabah who had obtained projects under the rural and regional development ministry which was once helmed by Warisan president Shafie Apdal.
Anthony, who is the Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) Malaysia president, made his first foray into politics by joining Warisan after it was set up in October 2016, joining Shafie who had quit Umno.
