GEORGE TOWN: Penang police are on the lookout for an Australian woman who has gone missing for the past 10 days after her visit to see her mother at an old folks home here.

Northeast district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said Annapuranee Jenkins, 65, was last seen at the Ramakrishna Ashram on Scotland Road where she was last dropped off by a Uber driver on Dec 13.

Anuar said Annapuranee took a Uber ride to the Little Sisters of the Poor, a home for the aged at Batu Lanchang Lane.

However, she had asked the driver to drop her off at the ashram, some 4km away from her intended destination.

Her husband, who is in his late 70s, lodged a police report when she never returned and could not be reached.

“We were told by the Uber driver that Annapuranee wanted to get down at the Scotland Road-Jalan Batu Gantung intersection, heading towards Air Itam.

“The driver was reluctant to drop her off at the busy traffic light junction, so he dropped her off at the next safest spot, which was the ashram.

“She was last seen there, according to the driver,” Anuar told reporters today.

Prior to her trip to Batu Lanchang Lane, she was at a dentist on Burma Road, Pulau Tikus, Anuar said.

Those who have any information on her whereabouts can contact Sergeant Zali of the Patani Road police station at 04-218-1884 or 019-411-7572.
