PETALING JAYA:
Deputy Defence Minister Mohd Johari Baharum says the Royal Military College (RMC) is targeting a 20% intake of non-Malay students to bridge the racial gap.

“There is no quota. We have programmes with certain quarters so that intake of students from various races can be done,” he told reporters after the annual parade and prize-giving ceremony at RMC in Sungai Besi here yesterday.

For the Boys Wing or Putera (Form 4) for 2018, some 2,138 online applications were received, of which 91.2% were from Malay students and 8.8% from other races.

Only 356 applicants passed the initial interview to fill 200 vacancies, 86.8% of whom are Malays and 13.2% of other races.
