He said PH de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim would be the opposition pact’s PM-in-waiting, but an interim PM would be named if PH won the 14th general election since Anwar was serving a prison sentence.
“Our choice for PM is Anwar. Since he is in prison, we have other choices, which hopefully will be announced next month,” Lim, who is Penang chief minsiter, told reporters today.
He did not want to comment on who the “other choices” might be.
Lim was responding to reports that the DAP was gunning for the PM’s post in a PH government, reiterating it has no interest to do so.
Earlier, it was reported that former PM and PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad would likely be the interim PM if the opposition pact wrests Putrajaya.
The decision was said to have been made at a PH retreat, with the deputy PM’s post going to PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The proposal was reportedly supported by three of the coalition’s four parties – DAP, Amanah and PPBM headed by Mahathir – while PKR wanted more time for consultations.
