He said the rally was aimed at inspiring Selangor people to rise and defend their ruler.
“We will hold the gathering in Shah Alam on Sunday in front of the palace. We will ask Selangor to rise up and stand behind the sultan.
“Besides that, we will also make a police report on Zaid Ibrahim’s statement and call for his investigation under the Sedition Act,” he told a press conference at the media centre of the Umno general assembly in PWTC here today.
Former minister and current DAP member Zaid Ibrahim was reported to have taken to Twitter to “advise” the sultan.
His tweet read: “The Selangor sultan should be careful with his words. No one is immune when the country burns.”
Zaid was apparently referring to an interview the sultan gave The Star in which the ruler claimed Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s political agenda was motivated by “deep hatred” and that “his anger will burn the whole country”.
Noh said it was unfortunate that Selangor Menteri Besar Mohd Azmin Ali did not back the sultan in the issue.
“The state government has to stand behind the sultan. It was the sultan who picked Azmin and not DAP, so he should have acted on the matter.
“The state government should have passed a motion to not allow Dr Mahathir to give any ceramah in state government premises.
“If the MB does not respect the sultan, what more of Zaid? I regret the inaction by Azmin to defend the Sultan.”
