Police: No release of water from Tasik Kenyir dam

People advised not to be alarmed by viral post on social media that emergency siren was sounded to release water from dam.

It’s not true. Police have denied a post going viral on social media that the emergency siren was sounded at Tasik Kenyir for the purpose of releasing water from the dam.

Hulu Terengganu police chief DSP Mohd Adli Mat Daud, who denied the posting on the Facebook page “Pasir Puteh Today”, asked people not to be alarmed by it and to refer any issue regarding the matter to the agencies involved.

When contacted by Bernama, he said the water level in Tasik Kenyir was currently at the minimum level (137.81 metres).

According to the Sultan Mahmud power station, the warning level of the dam is 150 metres while the emergency level is at 153 metres.
