Johor State Assembly Speaker Mohamad Aziz made the decision when the state assembly resumed at 2.30pm after taking into account Wong’s reluctance to withdraw her statement.
“YB Senai, we have rules to obey. If we as state assemblymen do not want to retract, this is against the rules. So I am using the power vested in me to direct YB Senai to leave the assembly today,” the speaker said.
Wong, who is from DAP, then followed Mohamad ‘s instruction and left the hall despite objections from certain opposition representatives who were not satisfied with the speaker’s decision.
During the debate session earlier in the morning, Wong had issued a statement saying that in March, the Johor menteri besar had been accused of receiving RM12 million from a developer to change the status of Bumiputera housing lots to non-Bumiputera lots.
Wong claimed to have found out about the matter through documents uploaded on a website, and asked the menteri besar to respond to the allegations.
Mohamad said the directive for Wong to leave the hall was only for today, and the Senai assemblywoman could resume attending the assembly tomorrow.
