Nozula told FMT that he wept because the speaker’s decision to give him the boot prevented him from raising issues that affected the “rakyat” when debating the 2018 state budget.
“I become very sensitive when I am prevented from addressing the dewan. I am a senior and this is the last debate on the budget,” he said.
Meanwhile, 12 Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen have agreed to boycott the next sitting to protest Nozula being booted.
Kelantan Umno liaison committee secretary Md Alwi Che Ahmad, who spoke on behalf of the 12, said they could not accept the decision by Kelantan state assembly speaker Abdullah Ya’kub.
“Nozula is still recovering from a stroke, yet he attended the state assembly sitting. The speaker was inconsiderate not to take his health into account when he ejected him,” Alwi said.
Yesterday, Kelantan deputy speaker Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman had reportedly accused Nozula of “acting” when he started crying after he was booted from the state assembly.
Latiff said that Nozula, who is also the Paloh representative, did not debate the budget throughout the entire session but had only interrupted the debate without any permission from the floor.
He also said that assemblymen from both sides of the floor were given an opportunity to debate the budget, but those from BN had walked out after Nozula was ejected.
“Are Paloh’s antics meant to ensure the state government is criticised in the next sitting or because he wanted to go home earlier,” Latiff asked, alluding to his crying in the house.
