Johor police chief Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the screening involved 10,370 police officers, personnel and staff in the state.
“Those detained were aged between 25 and 35. The four policemen tested positive for methamphetamine while the staff tested positive for opium,” he told reporters after launching the “Program Ceria Bersama PDRM Care 2017” here today.
He said 6,221 or 60% of the number screened were drug-free. The process is being conducted daily until the remaining 4,149 have been screened.
Khalil said the suspects were being investigated under Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and would face court action.
Meanwhile, he said police detained two gangs comprising 13 individuals, aged between 15 and 44, in Batu Pahat on Nov 9 for involvement in a fight.
“Investigations revealed the fight was due to a misunderstanding. Two cars were damaged in the incident and there were also injuries.
“Police will not compromise on anyone involved in gangsterism and all the suspects have been remanded for four days from Nov 10 to 13 for investigation,” he said.
