SERDANG:
Police are looking for a man who sprayed an unknown liquid on the face of a Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) enforcement officer after his car’s tyre was clamped.

In the incident which occurred at 12.40pm in front of a restaurant in Bandar Puteri Puchong yesterday, the man and his wife were reportedly furious when they discovered that MPSJ enforcement officers had clamped the tyre of their car, which was illegally parked.

Serdang police chief Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said the couple had acted aggressively towards the officers.

“The man then sprayed an unidentified liquid in the face of one of the officers before running off with his wife,” Berita Harian quoted Megat as saying.

He said due to the incident, the officer suffered from irritation in his eyes and blurred vision.

Megat urged the couple to surrender, adding that the case was being probed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means, and Section 353 for using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty.

In September, Liew Yoke Peng, 43, was caught on video confronting a MPSJ enforcement officer while wielding a steering lock after her car’s tyre was clamped, also in Bandar Puteri Puchong.

She subsequently pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to obstructing a civil servant from discharging his duty.

The magistrate allowed bail at RM4,000 in one surety, ordered her to surrender her passport to the court and set Nov 24 for case mention.

Liew was sentenced to two weeks’ jail for contempt of court after she shouted at the magistrate and ignored the latter’s order.
