PETALING JAYA:
The “Datuk Seri”, who has been charged with assaulting three Rela members, is now expected to be charged with a drug offence believed to have been committed three years ago.

Liow Soon Hee, 29, is expected to be charged under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries a fine of not more than RM5,000 or a jail term of not more than two years, if convicted, reported The Star.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Shaharuddin Abdullah said Liow would be brought to the magistrate’s court at Jalan Duta for the charges to be read.

“Liow is now being held at the Dang Wangi police headquarters,” Shaharuddin said.

On Friday, Liow was charged with assaulting Rela members Lee Weng Poh, 27, Melvin Cheong, 19, and Leong Jun Jie, 21 on Oct 27, 2017.

The trio was allegedly beaten up by Liow while they were on duty at the Kou Ong Yah Temple on Jalan Ampang.

Liow was offered bail of RM17,000 which he posted, but his freedom was short-lived, as he was re-arrested for an old drug offence.

In a related development, the three Rela personnel claimed that they were each offered RM10,000 hush money to withdraw their police report of the incident.

They later lodged a report with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the bribery attempt.

Meanwhile, a Selangor assemblyman has asked the police to probe deeper into Liow’s alleged criminal activities, including money laundering and operating get-rich-quick schemes.

“His wealth is unbelievable and his company Winner Dynasty Group could be involved in illegal activities,” said Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San.
