The home ministry said there are no additional criteria or conditions imposed on the application.
“The RoS is responsible to look into every application by political parties in detail to ensure the people’s interest are protected,” said the ministry in a parliamentary reply.
Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Bayan Baru) asked the home ministry to state the reasons for the delay in Pakatan Harapan getting its registration approved. He asked if there was any additional criteria that the RoS needed.
PH had submitted its draft constitution to the RoS on July 24 and its logo on July 28. However, ROS instructed PH to use the full name “Pakatan Harapan”, instead of just “Harapan” in its logo.
The opposition coalition then amended its logo and submitted the new logo as per the request by the ROS to complement its earlier application.
On Sept 11, PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad was reported as saying that the coalition had yet to receive any feedback on its registration application nor on the resubmission of the logo.
Mahathir had said they will request to meet the minister in charge to get information on whether there are any issues in any of their applications as they were ready to make changes.
