Ramli’s wife Roslida Ablah, 42, said she and her brother-in-law Abdul Razak Abdul Majid, 59, would be going to Iran to bring back his remains and to provide a sample of their DNA if required.
“His body is now at the hospital in Amol city and will be moved to Tehran. I am not sure when he can be brought back. I understand it is either Friday or Saturday, depending on approval from the Iranian government,” she told reporters at her home in Puchong, near here, today.
A climber with the Kelab Jelajah Alpine (KJA), Mohd Khafiz Bachok and two representatives from Proton Holdings will also be leaving for Tehran with Roslida and Razak.
Roslida said she was grateful that her prayers for her husband’s remains to be found had been answered.
“All the questions about my husband have been answered, I am very relieved. I want to see his face myself, regardless of what he looks like. I was told he was found in a frozen state,” she said about Ramli, who was 44 years old at the time he was reported missing.
Roslida, a Proton Holdings Bhd employee, said her only child Muhammad Fauzi, 17, who is due to sit for his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination next week, appeared calm about the news.
She described Ramli as a religious person, generous and loved by all.
“He was the pillar of the family. His siblings would gather around him and he was helpful to everyone.
“Before leaving for Mount Damavand, he would often recite Quranic verses while in the car, and two or three weeks ago, I dreamt of him,” she said.
Roslida also said she was grateful to everyone, especially the Malaysian embassy and Ramli’s friends who had been very involved in the search operations.
“I hope the arrangements to bring back his remains goes well. He will be buried at the Muslim cemetery at Batu 14, Puchong,” she said.
Yesterday, Wisma Putra confirmed that the body found by the Iranian authorities on Mount Damavand last Friday, was Ramli’s.
On Nov 20 last year, Ramli, a systems chief engineer at the Proton Holdings headquarters in Shah Alam, Selangor and another KJA climber, Syed Redzuan Syed Salim Shatri, 50, were reported missing after they were separated from other climbers.
On Nov 28, 2016, Syed Redzuan was found dead in the area around Yakhar Glacier, and his remains brought back to Malaysia.
