PETALING JAYA: An accident involving an ice truck and a van in Tapah early this morning killed nine people, all of whom were on board the van, The Star reported.

According to Tapah OCPD Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw all nine victims, eight of whom were women, died at the scene of the crash in Jalan Besar SMTD, Ayer Kuning.

He added that eight of the victims were trapped in the van following the collision which occurred at about 6.30am, but one of the victims was thrown out of the van.

The driver of the ice truck was sent to the hospital but the extent of any injuries he suffered is yet unknown.
