PETALING JAYA:
A senior police officer was caught red-handed stealing from his neighbour’s house in Taman Bangi Avenue, Bangi, on Thursday.

A team from Bangi police station was sent to the house when police were alerted about the incident at about 5pm, reported the New Straits Times.

Upon arriving at the scene, they found the backdoor had been pried open.

Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussoff said the man, who was armed with a knife, was found coming down the stairs of the house carrying a bag filled with stolen items.

“”He resisted arrest and put up a fight when police found him,” Dzaffir said.

“However, he was apprehended and was taken to the Kajang police headquarters for further action,” he said.

Checks showed that the 31-year-old man was a senior police officer at Bukit Aman.

Police said the house owner, a 45-year old financial adviser who was at work during the robbery, rushed back home when he was informed of the incident.

Dzaffir said the house owner identified the suspect as his neighbour.

“He confirmed that the stolen items were from his house,” he said, adding that among the stolen items were a PC and smartphones.

Dzaffir said the suspect has been remanded four days under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-breaking.
