Despite numerous complaints filed by residents of the posh neighbourhood and the neighbouring Segambut Dalam, and over 40 compounds issued by the KL City Hall (DBKL), the dumping continues, The Star reported.
Residents at Impian Villas@Mont Kiara now claim that the 1.2ha area has once again turned into an illegal dumpsite over the past few months.
Now, the residents also fear that open burning will take place at the landfill.
Speaking for his constituents, Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said aside from issuing compounds, DBKL had even seized a few lorries in November last year, with the whole area also being cleared of all debris.
“I already lodged a complaint with DBKL and Alam Flora, among other authorities, but they have not reverted to me,” the daily quoted him as saying of the latest incidence of rubbish-laden lorries dumping their loads in the landfill.
“The dumpsite used to be a forest with a river flowing beside it, but now rubbish covers the land and river.
“As the landowner has done nothing after being issued a notice by the land office, they should seize the land as they have the right to do so,” Lim was quoted as saying.
Lim called for DBKL and other relevant authorities to take action and impose the harshest punishment possible.
Meanwhile, Segambut Dalam Landowners Association secretary Irwan Sabei told The Star that prior to the raid and seizure on the illegal activity last November, there had been hundreds of lorries dumping waste there.
“The area was barricaded by DBKL after their major operation to shut the area, however, at least three to four lorries are still throwing rubbish here every day,” he was quoted as saying.
