Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh said in a statement today that the attorney-general’s chambers (AGC) had given the green light to police to charge the two under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He added the other youths will be charged with self-administering a dangerous drug under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Police had on Sept 15 arrested seven boys, aged between 11 and 18, for allegedly setting the school on fire. They are earlier believed to have been mocked by its students.

Earlier, during a press conference at Bukit Aman, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police had completed their investigations into the fire and not all of the suspects arrested were directly involved in the alleged arson.

“They could have been involved in discussions about setting the school on fire but they were not actively involved in setting the fire.”
