The RMAF is now ready to fly the Charlie C130 and A400M with supplies to Bangladesh once the government makes a request, he told reporters after launching a 1Family Sports Carnival at the RMAF Subang airbase here.
“Last Saturday, we undertook the first humanitarian supply mission.
“We are now waiting for word from the government to undertake the next. We will select between the two aircraft to undertake the mission. The A400M will be useful if the quantity of supplies is huge,” he said.
On Sept 9, Prime Minister Najib Razak launched a humanitarian mission to send 12 tonnes of food and other needs to Chittagong in Bangladesh using two RMAF A400M aircraft.
On the sports carnival, Affendi said it was held to foster greater goodwill among RMAF personnel.
The highlight of the carnival would take place on Nov 18 at the RMAF Subang airbase, where 15,000 RMAF personnel will participate in various sports, including futsal, golf and badminton.
